Mathematicians' Corner
These are math problems meant to spark your interest, introduce various concepts you may not have known before, and improve your ability to think like a mathematician! Solve as many or as few as you would like (the more the better!). The solutions to the problems will be posted (and the questions archived) somewhere between every week and every four weeks (depending on the difficulty of the problem and the page manager's opinion: a rough deadline will be posted below each problem but is flexible and can be extended upon request). We will also keep a running leaderboard of problem solvers, so if you want to get some extra math clout, this is the way to do it! Have fun and get math-ing!
If you have any questions or would like to contribute a problem or problem idea, email [email protected] or send a remind to Nathan Kuo. The only requirements for contributing a problem are that it does not require any math skills greater than trigonometry, is well-written, a solution is attached, and (preferably) that it is pre-formatted with LaTeX. You will automatically receive a point on the leaderboard if one of your problems is accepted, so don't worry about falling behind if you submit a problem!
Also, try to find the various easter eggs hidden in each problem! They may provide hints to the solution. :)

If you solve a problem, submit your answers in the form to see if you got it right! The page manager will get back to you as soon as we can via email.
When submitting, please enter your first and last name, email for contact, the number of the problem that you solved, and your solution. If the email you submit is not valid (i.e., the return email was not received), you will NOT be put on the leaderboard, even if the answer submitted is correct. Please format your answers as stated in the problem. Use standard formatting (exact answers, fully simplified fractions, etc.) unless otherwise stated. If you would like to include a brief description of your solution process along with your answer, you are welcome to. You may submit as many answers as you would like while the problem remains active (solution has not been released), and each time you submit one of the page managers will give you a little feedback to help point you in the right direction. Please be respectful of the page manager's time and do not spam; those who violate this policy will not have their solutions counted. If you disagree with scoring, please let the page manager know by either replying to the response email sent to you or by emailing [email protected] directly with "DISAGREEMENT" written in the subject line. We will review your correction and adjust as necessary. |
